Who are these guys, and why should we care about them? (Other than the Earth King, but tbh I'm more interested in how canon!Kuei went from happy wanderer to his daughter being the tyrannical Earth Queen. There's no question that Embers!Kuei will reclaim the throne as soon as he can.)
Lu-shan is Huojin's old boss, and Yakume is the Fire Nation Master Sergeant assigned to oversee him as part of the Fire Nation occupation of Ba Sing Se. We haven't seen them since *checks* Chapter 45, good lord. As for Kuei, he's pretty much got to be back on the throne already, since he's overseeing the end of the occupation (how that happened is, of course, off-page) and I'd always understood that Korra's Earth Queen resented her father's "weakness" and tried to deliberately be his exact opposite, which is how she ended up as a megalomaniacal control freak.
And the Fire Nation Eternal Civil War is already in full swing! What a happy ending!
But, but, that's good because the Fire Nation have to fight each other! /s Please ignore the fact that it sounds like Azula's already making plans to bring everything back under her control...

...just how old is Amaya? I was picturing her as Iroh's age, probably menopausal or close to it. Now she seems like she's Iroh's younger trophy wife.
Yeah, that was my take, too. She was also apparently on the shortlist of potential brides for Pakku after Kanna left. Vathara seems to go with the idea that powerful benders automatically live longer than other people, so maybe she assumes they'd stay fertile longer? *shrugs*
