Date: 2023-12-23 11:03 pm (UTC)You'd think that... but Vathara's Dai Li are apparently too nice for that, and she doesn't seem to think anyone would pass up the chance to have Fire Nation people on their side...
You know, every time Koizilla comes up I'm struck by how... unthinking Vathara thinks the Ocean is. Yes, what he did to the Fire Navy forces wasn't particularly nice, but the important concern should be whether or not it was righteous. And, in all honesty - it pretty much is. These are after all people who proved willing to attack the one major polity which wasn't part of the war, and took orders from the sort of person who thinking killing a GODDESS is a good idea. If the Moon hadn't been replaced, that's the apocalypse right there. I for one think the Ocean had good reason to make an example of that fleet!
*applauds this*
And as a side note, the Haima-jiao isn't particularly like the each uisge, aside from being a water-dwelling man-eater which shapeshifts. For starters, each uisge don't have mind-control powers.
I'm not really surprised. The fic makes some real-world mythological comparisons later on that I do know more about, and find... questionable.
