Date: 2025-05-18 02:42 am (UTC)As for the post-NJO novels, I'm inclined to blame a lot of the problems (not all, but a lot) on Troy Denning, rather than Lucas - iirc, he replaced James Luceno as the head of the creative team for LotF/FotJ, and definitely wrote more books in that era than any other author, and I think the whole era reeks of his interpretation of the franchise (which seemed to skew a lot more gritty, cynical and depressing than was usual). If I get around to my reread (which I'm increasingly thinking I will do) I'll probably talk more about that.
As for Lucas, I mostly think of the three major things he mandated for the NJO itself - that the Vong couldn't be Sith, that Chewie and not Luke should die in Vector Prime, and that Anakin and not Jacen should die in Star by Star.
